The Blas Payne is one, if not the oldest, home in Marathon, Texas. It has been lovingly restored with close attention to retaining the character of a 100 year- old adobe.
Blas Payne, who built this home, was written up by the Houston Chronicle as “the best cowboy in west Texas”! His family, black Seminole Indians, were Buffalo Soldiers. Blas’ great grandfather was a medal of honor winner as a bugler for the Army. The Blas Payne has a spacious kitchen—just totally renovated in March 2015—a cozy living room with Dish TV, two bedrooms—one with queen bed and quite spacious and a 2nd bedroom with two single beds, a bathroom with new slate tile shower and laundry facilities.
